BACKGROUND

The Himachal Pradesh State Small Industries and Export Corporation Limited was incorporated on 20th October 1966 under the Companies Act, 1956. It is the First Public sector undertaking incorporated by the Himachal Pradesh Government to achieve the following main objectives:-

i) To aid, counsel, assist, finance, protect and promote interest of small industries in the state

ii) Provide the SSI units with capital, credit, resources, technical and managerial assistance for undertaking production and marketing including exports.

iii) Procure and distribute raw materials allotted by the Government of India to SSI units.

The Corporation started its activities with the procurement and distribution of scarce, controlled and imported raw materials to the SSI units of Himachal Pradesh.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Corporation has its registered office in Shimla, which is in rented premises. It has branches at Parwanoo, Chandigarh and Kandrori. The branch at Parwanoo is handling bitumen business while the branches at Chandigarh and Kandrori are handling iron and steel business.
